Household Income and Coverage Levels
The Canadian Dental Care Plan helps reduce the cost of eligible dental hygiene treatments for qualifying Canadians. Coverage is based on your adjusted family net income from your most recent tax return and is determined by the Government of Canada.
| Adjusted Family Net Income | CDCP Covers | You Cover (Co-payment) |
|---|---|---|
| Under $70,000 | 100% of eligible services at CDCP rates | 0% (you may still face additional fees) |
| $70,000 - $79,999 | 60% of eligible services at CDCP rates | 40% of CDCP rates |
| $80,000 - $89,999 | 40% of eligible services at CDCP rates | 60% of CDCP rates |
Note: Pearly Whites Dental Hygiene may charge fees above the CDCP fee schedule. Any amount not covered by the CDCP is the patient's responsibility. We encourage you to contact our clinic before your appointment to confirm your coverage and discuss any potential out of pocket costs.
Eligible Dental
Hygiene Treatments
The Canadian Dental Care Plan may help cover eligible preventive
dental hygiene treatments when they are clinically appropriate. Coverage varies by patient, and some treatments may require preauthorization.

Dental Sealants
Protect vulnerable teeth from cavities with a durable preventive coating.

Oral Cancer Screenings
Routine screenings help identify changes that may require further evaluation.
Who is Eligible for
the CDCP?
You may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan if you meet all of the following requirements:
You do not have access to private dental insurance.
Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000.
You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
You and your spouse or partner (if applicable) filed your Canadian tax return for the previous year.
If you receive dental benefits through another government program, you may still qualify. The CDCP coordinates benefits to help prevent duplicate coverage.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Does the CDCP cover all dental hygiene treatments?
No. The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers many eligible dental hygiene treatments, but not every procedure is covered in every situation. Coverage depends on your individual eligibility, the type of treatment required, and whether preauthorization is needed. Our team can help explain your benefits before your appointment.
How do I know if I qualify for the CDCP?
You may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan if you do not have private dental insurance, your adjusted family net income is under $90,000, you are a Canadian resident for tax purposes, and you have filed your previous year's tax return. Visit the Government of Canada's website for the latest eligibility requirements.
Will I have to pay anything at my appointment?
It depends on your level of CDCP coverage and the treatment you receive. While some patients have most eligible treatment costs covered, others may have a co-payment or additional fees if treatment costs exceed the CDCP fee schedule. Our team will gladly discuss any potential out of pocket costs before treatment begins.
Do all dental hygiene treatments require preauthorization?
No. Many preventive dental hygiene treatments can be provided without preauthorization, while certain procedures may require approval from the Canadian Dental Care Plan before treatment is completed. If preauthorization is required, we'll explain the process and help you understand what to expect.
How do I apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Applications for the Canadian Dental Care Plan are completed through the Government of Canada. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you'll receive information about your coverage, including your benefit start date and member details. Once your coverage is active, you can contact our clinic to schedule an appointment.
